Melanie Barnhart has departed the Andersonville Galleria and is now working from her own studio at 1507 W. Granville, by appointment.
Miss Barnhart is a reknown designer of refined women's formal wear, and uses a large variety of exotic fabrics in her work, including metallic silk organzas, many of which are pleated, crushed, or embroidered. She also uses velvets, satins, chiffons, and other fine fabrics in her work, and makes scarves and shawls as well as gowns.
Miss Barnhart specializes in custom bridal gowns and evening wear for women. She can be reached at 773.525.1188 between the hours of 9 AM and 6 PM.

Melanie Barnhart Couture now has a kiosk at the Andersonville Galleria, 5247 N. Clark in Chicago.
One of the country's most inventive and flamboyant designers of fine evening wear, Melanie Barnhart, is back in Chicago, after closing her Lakeview store at Clark & Wellington a number of years back. Former customers who miss the the shimmering store with its vast array of lavish gowns in crystal-pleated metallic silk organzas, iridescent chiffons, hand-painted silk georgettes, and many other fine, exotic fabrics can now see Miss Barnhart's incomparable designs in the orth side's vibrant Andersonville retail district.
Melanie Barnhart's designs appeared at Georgio's of Beverly Hills in 1991, and since that time have appeared in exclusive stores from Palm Beach to Paris. Melanie's store in Lakeview, the Wild Orchid, was a mecca for women who wanted creative and original formal wear in top quality fabrics, and her customers will be glad to see that Melanie once more has a presence in Chicago.
Melanie Barnhart Couture is located on the second floor of the Galleria, on the north side of the building. The Galleria's hours are: Tues-Thurs 11AM-7PM; Friday 11AM-8PM, Saturday 11PM-7PM, Sunday 11AM-6PM.
